Sam Smith is to “step back” from leading the finnCap Group on 1 September, though she will remain on the board in an advisory role. John Farrugia, currently managing partner of finnCap Cavendish, the group’s M&A advisory business, will become a director of the company and appointed CEO designate.
Under Smith’s leadership, the finnCap business grew to become a NOMAD and broker to AIM companies, as well as diversifying its revenue streams: alongside its original equity capital markets service, it now offers M&A advice services and has debt advisory and private capital teams.
In May, the group acquired a 50% stake in Energise Ltd, an ESG-related sustainability consultancy. Smith will remain as an adviser to Energise.
“It is an exciting time for workplace culture, ESG and diversity and inclusion,” she said, “and I am looking forward to focusing on a non-executive career to champion these issues, which I passionately believe in.”
