Satoshi Tsunakawa has been appointed as president and chief executive of Toshiba Corporation following the resignation of Nobuaki Kurumatani.
Tsunakawa joined Toshiba in 1979 and is a former president and CEO of Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation.
The company is currently facing a proposed $20bn buyout by CVC Capital Partners.
