The board of French media group Canal+ has gone through a series of changes following the surprise appointment of Vincent Bolloré as chairman of the company’s supervisory board.
With Bollore’s appointment came the departure of Bertrand Meheut after 13 years as chief executive, and the appointment of Jean-Christophe Thiery as chairman of the company’s management board, while Maxime Saada becomes chief executive.
Thiery is in charge of telecoms at Bolloré Group, Bolloré’s own media business where he is chairman of the free newspaper Direct Matin.
A statement posted on the Vivendi website said Meheut would remain as a special adviser.
