Costain has announced that Kate Rock will succeed Paul Golby, who is to step down from the board as chair and non-executive director. Rock will also chair the nomination committee from December.
Since 2020, Rock has been senior independent director of Keller Group plc, having been appointed a non-executive director in 2018. She is a senior adviser at Instinctif Partners, an international business communications consultancy, and was previously a managing partner of its predecessor, College Hill Associates. Until 2016, she was vice-chairman of the Conservative Party, with responsibility for business engagement.
Baroness Rock is a member of the House of Lords Select Committee for Science and Technology. She is a non-executive director of Unbound Group plc and was previously a NED of Imagination Technologies plc.
Tony Quinlan, senior independent director, said: “Having conducted an extensive search process, we are delighted to welcome Kate to the board of Costain where she will support the group in the next stage of its transformation. She brings a strong understanding of the construction contracting sector, the application of innovation and technology to drive productivity enhancements, and of government. Her background in corporate communications and strategy, as well as her natural energy and new ideas, will support the acceleration of our transformation.
