Corporate governance demands could be among the measures demanded by media campaign group Hacked Off as part of its efforts to hinder the takeover of Sky by Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox.
According to Bloomberg, Hacked Off is working behind the scenes to organise amendments to proposed legislation in the UK’s Digital Economy Bill, which is currently making its way through parliament.
Bloomberg cited Hacked Off’s joint executive director Evan Harris, who said that governance could be the focus of proposed changes that would be proposed while the bill is being considered by the House of Lords. Other proposals could focus on issues of media plurality.
Fox has offered £11.7bn for Sky.
