InterContinental Hotels Group plc has today announced the appointment of Angie Risley as a non-executive director of the company. In January, she will become chair of the remuneration committee—after Jo Harlow retires—and join the nomination committee.
Risley is currently a non-executive director at Smith & Nephew, where she is chair of the remuneration committee and a member of the nomination & governance committee and the compliance & culture committee. She previously served as a NED of Serco Group (chairing its remuneration committee), as well as Sainsbury’s Bank plc, Arriva and Biffa. She has been a member of the Low Pay Commission.
Risley’s career in human resources has spanned executive roles across a number of sectors. She recently retired from Sainsbury’s, having been group HR director for 10 years and a member of the operating board. She has also held the group HR director role at Whitbread and Lloyds Banking Group
Deanna Oppenheimer, non-executive chair of IHG, thanked Jo Harlow for her “strong contribution”, and welcomed Risley, saying: “We are delighted that Angie is joining IHG’s board. Angie brings a wealth of experience both from a board and senior management perspective. Her broad experience across a number of sectors, including senior executive roles in retail and hospitality, and her leadership in people management will further strengthen IHG’s board.”
