JD Sports appoints NED

Currys’ chair Ian Dyson will become a non-executive director of the sports fashion retailer with immediate effect.

JD Sports Fashion Plc has today announced that Ian Dyson will be appointed as a non-executive director, with effect from 9 March 2023. He will join the audit and risk committee and the remuneration committee.

Dyson is currently chair of the board at consumer electronics company Currys. Before that, he was chair at fashion retailer Asos, and is a former non-executive director of Intercontinental Hotels Group plc and SSP Group.

During his executive career, Dyson was group finance and operations director of Marks & Spencer Group, chief executive of Punch Taverns and group finance director of Rank Group.

Andrew Higginson, chair of JD, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to the JD board. He brings a wealth of relevant experience and insight to our deliberations. The appointment of Ian is further progress towards strengthening the board’s broader PLC experience base.”
