Models and collectibles group Hornby has appointed Henry de Zoete to its board as a non-executive director.
De Zoete is an entrepreneur and alumnus of Silicon Valley start-up accelerator Y Combinator. He co-founded tech start-ups The Big Deal and Look After My Bills, the latter of which secured the best deal in the history of BBC’s Dragons’ Den.
De Zoete is currently an angel investor in tech start-ups and a non-executive board member of the UK Cabinet Office. He previously served on the board of campaigning organisation 38 Degrees and was a special adviser in the Department of Education.
De Zoete will be a member of Hornby’s audit and remuneration committees.
John Stansfield, Hornby chair, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Henry to the board. Henry has a tremendous amount of highly relevant experience and I am in no doubt that he will make a strong contribution to the group as we move forward with our digital transformation.”
