The Global Business Complexity Index, sponsored by TMF Group, looks at the complexity of operating businesses in countries around the world. Since the 2018 report, the landscape has become more challenging. Trade disputes, tariffs, rising nationalism and Brexit point to a shift from globalisation to economic fragmentation. As a result, many businesses have to localise their presence to establish themselves in target markets. The report ranks jurisdictions around the world in terms of how difficult they are to operate in and highlights what to expect in terms of legal, compliance, accounting, tax and employment rules.
