The former Pets at Home CEO has joined the board of the UK retailer as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Formerly managing director of Waitrose, James Bailey will take up the role at the UK pet care business with effect from 30 March 2026.

The qualified vet will become a non-executive director of the UK pet care business’s board with effect from 12 July.

Angelique Augereau will bring AI experience when she joins the board as an independent non-executive director.

Sharon Flood and Vikram Kumaraswamy will join the board as independent non-executive directors with effect from 17 May.

Natalie-Jane Macdonald will join the pet care business’s board in May as an independent non-executive director.

The former Tesco CEO will take over as chair in November, having already joined the board as an independent non-executive director.

McGowan, currently chief consumer officer at Sky UK, will become group CEO designate in April and succeed Peter Pritchard in June.
