Computers, servers and the internet are indispensable tools for financial professionals – and they are under relentless attack. For accountants, measures must be taken to ensure that the sensitive personal and corporate financial information they handle is safe: accountants need to be at the forefront of cybersecurity. This is particularly true today, as clients and consumers are more aware than ever of the cyber vulnerability of all businesses.

The ACCA’s second annual cybersecurity best practices survey, undertaken by the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems at Pace University, indicates that ACCA members are adopting a range of strategies to cope with the challenges of maintaining a secure environment. The findings of 'Cyberwarriors with calculators', published in September 2015, should be a wake-up call.
