Jonathan Smalley is the COO and co-founder of Proxymity, a leading digital investor communications platform. Proxymity connects issuers, intermediaries and investors in real time via proxy voting and shareholder data solutions, providing transparency, efficiency and accuracy throughout the ecosystem. Along with his co-founder Dean Little, Jonathan formulated the idea for Proxymity while working in Citi’s Equities and Securities Services Custody Product group. Proxymity was first launched in the UK in 2018, following a collaborative pilot partnership with Computershare, and was then spun out by Citi in April 2020. Jonathan began his career at BNY Mellon and held several senior asset servicing positions, as well as operational and product development roles at Citi. Throughout his career, Jonathan has believed passionately in building products that are intensely focused on solving customer problems and enabling a more accurate, transparent and efficient investor communications ecosystem. Jon led Proxymity’s Series B investment round, raising $52m from a group of investors that represent seven of the top ten global custodians who hold more than $200trn in assets under custody.
