Oxford Metrics plc, the sensing and software company, providing solutions across life sciences, entertainment, engineering and smart manufacturing, has announced the appointment of Gary Bullard as non-executive chair of the board. He succeeds Roger Parry CBE, who will remain as a non-executive director until the end of the month.

Bullard is currently non-executive chair of Gooch & Housego plc, a global photonics and advanced materials company, and AFC Energy plc, a developer of hydrogen fuel cells and ammonia crackers for zero-emission power generation, both of which are listed on AIM. He was also a non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee of Spirent Communications plc until its acquisition by Keysight Technologies Inc last month.

Bullard brings extensive non-executive experience to the role, having been a director of Rotork plc from 2010 to 2019 and Chloride Group plc from 2005 until its acquisition by Emerson Electric in 2010.

Bullard spent a large part of his career in global roles at IBM Corporation, and has held senior executive positions at BT Group plc (as president of BT Global Services and as UK managing director) and Logica plc (as UK CEO).

Roger Parry CBE, outgoing non-executive chair of Oxford Metrics commented: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Bullard as non-executive chair of Oxford Metrics. Gary brings an impressive executive and non-executive track record across a range of global companies, and I wish him well in guiding Oxford Metrics in its growth journey. I am proud of the progress the Company has made during my tenure and grateful to colleagues and shareholders for their support.”

Naomi Climer, senior independent non-executive director, commented: “Gary is a highly experienced chair with deep knowledge of technology businesses and international markets. His blend of board-level governance expertise and operational leadership in major global companies will be invaluable as Oxford Metrics continues to execute its growth strategy. I would like to thank Roger on behalf of the Board for his leadership and exceptional contribution to Oxford Metrics since his appointment in 2016. Roger has guided the Company through an extraordinary period of growth and evolution, and it has been a pleasure working closely with him.”
