Nottingham Building Society has announced the appointment of Clodagh Gunnigle to its Board as a non-executive director with effect from 22 September.

Subject to regulatory approval, Gunnigle will become the new chair of the society’s remuneration committee. She will also join the board risk and board audit committees.

Gunnigle, a chartered accountant, brings experience in banking and consumer financial services across finance, credit and risk. She currently serves as a non-executive director of Alpha Bank London, where she chairs the remuneration committee, and Admiral Financial Services. She was also previously on the board of Lowell, where she chaired the audit and risk committee, and is a non-executive director, serving as chair of audit and risk, at Sonas, a domestic violence charity in Ireland.

Her executive career included senior leadership positions at GE Capital and Arrow Global PLC, where she gained significant expertise in governance, transformation, and mergers and acquisitions.

Robin Ashton, chair of Nottingham Building Society, said: “We are pleased to welcome Clodagh to the board. She brings deep expertise in finance, credit and risk, combined with proven experience in transformation and governance. Her skills will be invaluable as we continue to grow and modernise the Society while remaining true to our mutual purpose.

“On behalf of the board, I would also like to thank Simon for his contribution over the past six years. His leadership, insight and passion for people have made a lasting impact on the Society.”
