Newbury Racecourse PLC, the racing, entertainment and events business, has announced the appointment of Juliet Slot as a non-executive director, effective following the company’s AGM on 10 June.
Slot is currently chief commercial officer at Arsenal Football Club. She has held this position for more than three years and previously held similar commercial and sales positions at Ascot Racecourse and Fulham Football Club, as well as other high profile non-executive and advisory roles. She brings commercial, racing and partnerships experience to the company’s board.
Slot’s appointment follows the announcement of the planned departure from the board of John Dodds, who has served as a non-executive director since 2010. Bryan Burrough will assume the role of the company’s senior independent director.
Dominic Burke, chair of Newbury Racecourse plc, thanked John Dodds for his service and commented: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Juliet Slot, who brings both racecourse management and racing knowledge together with extensive commercial experience to the board, as we seek to expand further our commercial activities.”
