The board of Severn Trent Plc has announced that Nicholas (‘Nick’) Hampton has been appointed as a non-executive director of the company. He will also join the audit and risk, nominations, remuneration and treasury committees.

On 1 May, Hampton will become the board’s senior independent director, succeeding Kevin Beeston, who is retiring from the board on 30 April, having served for nine years. Hampton has also been appointed to the Board of Severn Trent Water Limited.

Hampton is currently senior independent director of Great Portland Estates Plc, where he has served on the board since October 2016.

In his executive career, Hampton has been CEO of global food supplier Tate & Lyle Plc since 2018, having served as chief financial officer at the company since 2014. Prior to joining Tate & Lyle Plc, Hampton held a number of senior financial, commercial and operational roles at PepsiCo Inc, covering the UK and Ireland, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Chair Christine Hodgson thanked Kevin Beeston for his contribution said, “On behalf of the entire board, I look forward to welcoming Nick to Severn Trent. Nick’s strong non-executive and senior independent director experience and commercial acumen will help to ensure that we continue to grow the group in a successful and sustainable way, and support continued delivery for our customers, shareholders, employees, and the communities we serve.”
