Severfield plc, a UK market leader in the design, fabrication and construction of structural steel, has announced the appointment of Janice Crawford as a non-executive director. She will also serve on the company’s remuneration, nomination and audit committees.
Crawford, a chartered engineer, has had a career stretching from an apprenticeship in a Glasgow—where she was the first female apprentice in a British shipyard—to executive and board roles for international engineering and project delivery companies.
Having worked in diverse international companies in the petrochemical, oil and gas, LNG, mining and pharmaceutical related industries, Crawford was, up until April 2022, the director, global capital projects, for Johnson Matthey, the FTSE 100 international science and chemicals company. Crawford also served as a non-executive director of the Health and Safety Executive Board for five years.
Crawford is currently a non-executive director at National Energy System Operator Limited, the organisation which brings together eight activities required to deliver the plans, markets and operations of the energy system of today and the future.
Crawford is a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and became a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2013.
Charlie Cornish, non-executive chair, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Janice to the Board of Severfield. She brings a wealth of diverse international experience in a number of Severfield’s key growth sectors and her proven management skills and strategic, financial and commercial acumen will be highly beneficial to Severfield as we continue to grow and diversify.”
