Nationwide Building Society has announced the appointment of Anand Aithal as an independent non-executive director. He will also become a member of the audit committee and board risk committee.

Aithal has more than 30 years of experience across financial, business, government and professional services.

Currently an independent non-executive director of Saga plc and Polar Capital Holdings plc, he is also a trustee of the Institute for Government and a non-executive adviser to the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants. Previously Aithal was the lead non-executive board member for the Cabinet Office, until August 2024.

Prior to his non-executive career, Aithal was a managing director at Goldman Sachs before starting his own firm providing data analytical services.
