Land Securities Group PLC has announced that, following a selection process, it has appointed The Baroness Casey of Blackstock DBE CB as an independent non-executive director, with effect from 1 January 2025.
Baroness Casey is an independent adviser for social issues, chair of the Institute for Global Homelessness and a visiting professor at King’s College London. She became a crossbench peer in the House of Lords in September 2021. A former British government official, she has worked on issues relating to social welfare for five prime ministers over the past 23 years.
Baroness Casey started her career in the social welfare sector and was deputy director of Shelter, the homelessness charity, from 1992 to 1999. She is involved in a number of charities, including as a trustee of the King Charles III Charitable Fund.
Sir Ian Cheshire, Landsec’s chair, said: “I am very excited to welcome Louise to the board as a non-executive director. Modern businesses face ever increasing scrutiny to demonstrate how they are contributing positively to the country’s social fabric.
“Landsec is already active in this area, and Louise’s appointment strengthens the board’s expertise—there are few people more expert than Louise in understanding how corporate decision making impacts people’s lives. We look forward to benefiting from her perspective as we shape the future of places around the country.”
