Virgin Money UK PLC has announced the appointment of Petra van Hoeken as an independent non-executive director of the company, with effect from 1 July 2024.
On the same date, she will replace Geeta Gopalan as chair of the risk committee and will also join the audit committee, the governance and nomination committee and the remuneration committee, as well as the board of Clydesdale Bank PLC.
Van Hoeken is currently a member of the supervisory board, chair of the risk and compliance committee and a member of the audit committee at de Volksbank. At Nordea Bank, she chairs the risk and compliance committee and sits on the audit committee.
In addition, van Hoeken is non-executive board and committee member at Oranje Fonds, as well as being an adviser to the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate.
Formerly global head of sustainability for ABN AMRO, van Hoeken was subsequently appointed chief risk officer for RBS Europe, EMEA. Her most recent senior executive roles were at NIBC, Rabobank Group and the Intertrust Group.
Van Hoeken has held various non-executive board roles, including at the Nederlandse Waterschapsbank from 2015-2023, at De Lage Landen Int BV and at Utrecht-America Holdings Inc.
