Banking group Barclays PLC has released details of its longer term succession planning. Sir John Kingman has agreed to join the board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 June 2023 and he will succeed Crawford Gillies as chair of Barclays UK at the same time.
Sir John’s former roles include senior positions at HM Treasury, as the first chief executive of UK Financial Investments Ltd, and as global co-head of the Financial Institutions Group at Rothschild. He is currently chair of Legal & General Group and he stepped down as chair of Tesco Bank yesterday.
In addition, Julia Wilson, who joined the board in 2021, is to succeed Mike Ashley as chair of the audit committees of Barclays and Barclays Bank PLC with effect from 1 April this year. Wilson was formerly group finance director at 3i Group plc and chair of the audit committee of Legal & General.
Marc Moses is also joining the board as a non-executive director, bringing 43 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He has held senior executive roles at PwC, JPMorgan Europe and HSBC.
