Reach plc, one of Britain’s biggest newspaper groups, has announced the appointment of Denise Jagger as a non-executive director of the company, with effect from 31 December 2022.
Jagger will be a member of the audit & risk, nomination, remuneration and sustainability committees. She takes over the role of senior independent director from Helen Stevenson, who is stepping down as a NED, as is David Kelly.
Jagger currently serves on the boards of CLS Holdings Plc and Pool Reinsurance Company Ltd and, until December 2022, Bellway plc. She is also a trustee of the National Trust and chair at the University of York. Her other previous non-executive directorships include Redrow plc, SCS Upholstery plc, the British Olympic Association, and Scarborough Building Society.
In her executive career, Jagger was a director of Asda Stores and group general counsel and company secretary of Asda Walmart. She brings experience of M&As, finance raising, competition, regulation compliance, HR, and remuneration and benefits. Jagger started her legal career at Slaughter and May. She has also been a partner at Addleshaw Goddard, and Eversheds Sutherlands LLP.
