The board of NextEnergy Solar Fund (NESF) has announced the appointment of Helen Mahy to its board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 April 2023. She will succeed Kevin Lyon as chair of NESF after the company’s AGM in August 2023.
NESF is a specialist climate impact fund, investing in utility-scale solar power plants and energy storage.
Mahy recently retired as chair of The Renewables Infrastructure Group. She currently sits as a non-executive director of energy company SSE plc—where she chairs its safety, sustainability, health and environment advisory committee—and multinational law firm Gowling WLG.
Mahy is also a commissioner for The Equality and Human Rights Commission. She previously held the role of group general counsel and company secretary of the National Grid plc.
Kevin Lyon, chair of NESF, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Helen to the board. We believe her experience and long-standing commitment to the renewable energy sector will allow her to bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to the board and support the company’s further expansion.”
