Educational publisher Pearson has announced the appointment of Omid Kordestani as a non-executive director and chair designate.
Kordestani is a former executive chair of Twitter and was a senior vice president and chief business officer at Google, where he served as a senior adviser to the chief executive and founders during the transition to Alphabet. He is a member of the boards of Twitter, Klarna Bank and Klarna Holding, and is a council member for Balderton Capital.
Kordestani will join the Pearson board as a non-executive director in March and succeed Sidney Taurel as chair following the company’s AGM in April.
Tim Score, the board’s senior independent director, has been named as deputy chair designate.
Andy Bird, Pearson CEO, said: “Omid has been a driving force behind the growth of a number of world-changing tech companies. I am thrilled that he will now be bringing that expertise to Pearson, enhancing our strategic direction and growth potential. We are seeing good momentum in the business and are on track to meet market expectations for the year. Omid will help propel our strategy forward for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
