Oil company ExxonMobil has announced the appointment of Michael Angelakis and Jeffrey Ubben to its board of directors.
Angelakis is chair and CEO of investment company Atairos. He previously served as Comcast Corporation’s vice chair and chief financial officer. Angelakis is a non-executive director of TriNet Group and Groupon, and is a former chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
Ubben co-founded Inclusive Capital Partners, a San Francisco-based investment firm. He was a co-founder of investment firm ValueAct Capital Partners. He is currently a non-executive director for Appharvest, Enviva Partners and Nikola Corporation.
Darren Woods, chair and CEO of ExxonMobil, said: “We welcome these new directors as part of our ongoing board refreshment, which builds on the diverse global business experience of our current members.”
Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee, former CEO of Petronas, joined the board in February. The ExxonMobil board now has 13 directors, 12 of whom are independent.
In recent months the company has come under pressure from activist investors seeking board changes and a shift in strategy.
