Sir Mike Rake, BT’s chairman, has said the telecoms giant will begin a search for his successor at the end of this year.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Sir Mike said he would remain in his role until September 2017.
It was revealed this week that he would stay on because of the relatively recent arrival of the company’s chief executive, Gavin Patterson.
Patterson made news recently when it emerged he had lost part of his bonus because of the rising number of customer complaints.
Sir Mike is a former international chairman of KPMG, the global professional services firm. He is currently chairman of WorldPay, the payments processor, and deputy chairman at Barclays.
