Barber succeeds Michael Shallow who is retiring from the board at the end of July.
Barber is also currently Chairman of the audit committee Next, the clothing retailing. He has 30 years experience as a partner at both PwC and Ernst & Young.
He is also a former FD at Mirror Group and served as COO at Whitehead Mann.
